Students were required to design and make ceramic work in response to their drawing studies completed in the first weeks of the course. These drawings varied from a local church to the study of certain organic material.

In this project students had to design and make a ceramic clock. In the design of the clock, students had to consider how it would hang,where the clock fittings would go, colour and texture.

In this ceramic project students were asked to re-create in clay, a section from there choosen object. Students will previously have made observational studies of this object and will now work from 2D back into 3D.

{Ceramics :AD2-Recreate} In this first project students were required to use their observational drawings to recreate a section, or the entire object in terracotta clay. This was an introduction to working in clay and three-dimensional work.

In this brief the students were required to design a piece of artwork to coincide with their work practice module and to go on permanent display in the college courtyard. Each student designed a piece that made a personal statement of what 'college life' meant to them. The piece was constructed using the medium of mosaic.

{AD3:Design} Art as Inspiration

In this brief the students were required to research a number of artists or art movements of their choice. They then had to choose one which would inspire their design for a Jug. The jug then had to be constructed using, cardboard, papier mache, plaster paris, etc.

{AD3:Design} Advertising Poster

Following on from their drawing block, students were required to use their drawings as a starting point. These drawings then formed the theme for their poster design. All students followed the design process of research, brainstorming, thumbnail sketches and final execution of poster. The posters are A2 in size.

{AD2:Design} Urban Poster

In this brief the students were required to design a poster using the Urban environment as their inspiration. The words 'Urban Life' had to be incorporated into the design and the poster had to depict a personal response to the theme. Students had to choose which medium would best portray their message, photography, illustration, computer generated, montage, etc. All the posters are A2 in size.
